New web site address We now have a new web site address due to a change of webmaster. Ian Jones has put in some sterling work taking on the task of re-designing and updating the new site. Many thanks to Ian and also to Nic Lee who ran the site for the last three years. The new address is www.middlewichcleanteam.co.uk
Fundraising Stephen Dent has been very active zooming about the country taking part in a National ENCAMS Tour. He gives presentations to local authorities on how our Clean Team works and why it is successful. Talks in London, Blackburn and Birmingham have resulted in requests for him to visit Wolverhampton and the London Borough of Ealing to spread the word. Encams also donated £200 to our Clean Team as a thank you.
Closer to home members raised £665 on the Clean Team Sponsored walk and at a collection while supervising the park and ride at the Norman Festival. The walk took place on a beautiful hot Sunday afternoon in September along the canals.
Bulb Planting Thanks to all who helped with this annual event especially Will Moreton who brought his mini-digger along to lift turf. 25 volunteers planted 500 crocuses in St Michaels churchyard and 1500 daffodils along Kinderton Street followed by sandwiches in the Boars Head. Funding for the bulbs came from Middlewich Community Pride.
Local Hero Founder member of Clean Team, Carol Eccles, was given a Local Hero Award by Congleton Borough Council for her voluntary work for Middlewich Community Pride which includes chairing the Middlewich in Bloom sub committee.
High School A lunchtime litter pick in October was attended by 6 members and 8 pupils who cleared 5 bags of litter from the astroturf. A short presentation on litter awareness will be given to a High School assembly in December.
Working with CBC. The Borough Council has placed 2 new bins in St Annes Walk in response to requests, removed graffiti and cleaned the Bull Ring area ready for Remembrance Sunday.
United Reformed Church, Queen Street sent us a postcard thanking the Clean Team for all the work that we do and bringing hope to the community. It is nice to be recognised.
Thanks to all who have given their time this year to Clean Team, which is run on an entirely voluntary basis. We hope you have got good returns for your time taking part in the activities in the form of fun and friendship. Have a happy Christmas and all the best for 2009.
