At the AGM Bernice Walmsley was welcomed as a new committee member. Bernice is also chair of Community Pride group and brings fresh talent and expertise to our team.
Community Payback Scheme. Janet Chisholm has continued to liaise with the scheme to find ways of using the manpower available to improve areas around Middlewich. Recently four benches have been varnished and garage doors covered with graffiti re-painted. Janet and Bernice have scheduled a meeting with the scheme to prioritise work for the coming year.
First Aid. Six members of Clean Team attended a first aid course run by St John Ambulance in Chester. The course was excellent and we all gained confidence in learning to minimise injury and extend life until professional help arrives. First Aid packs were also purchased to take on group picks.
Fund raising. Fifty people came to the Hot Wok evening at the Big Lock in September. The food was delicious and it was a good evening all round. £162 was raised for Clean Team.
Crocus planting. In October 30 people turned up to St Michael’s churchyard to plant 2000 crocus which were supplied by Middlewich Community Pride. Planting was finished in about 45 minutes and all then went to the Boar’s Head for well-earned refreshment.
Education. In November Maxine and Janet will be giving a short presentation on litter picking to High School students during assembly.
Remembrance Sunday. Again this year Clean Team members joined the parade and laid a wreath
Streetscape. Many thanks to Streetscape for their continued support; especially during this year when they have been re-forming under Cheshire East.
Litter collected. Over 100 bags have been collected at group picks in the last six months. This figure does not include bags collected by members picking individually.
Thanks to all who have helped this year, taking photos for our web site, giving their time freely for the good of our town, and all members who have attended group picks or picked on the way to school or walking the dog. Without all your help we wouldn’t have such a tidy and lively town.
Looking forward to seeing you at group picks after Christmas.
Best wishes to you all for a happy Christmas from all the Clean Team Committee
