In keeping with our motto "Love Your Town Keep It Tidy" the Middlewich Clean team believes that a little effort makes a big difference. This study demonstrates that point as it shows how planting some flowers & bulbs really brighten the town up. It looks good, it feels good and makes it worthwhile not letting be spoilt by litter. This article features photographs from around the town and there are more photographs in photo archive should you wish to see them.
Spring 2010
The bulbs planted in the grounds of St Michael and All Angels Church last October (see "Autumn 2009" below) came up in full bloom at the beginning of April 2010 and were captured at their best by the Middlewich Guardian.

Autumn 2009
The 7th Middlewich Community bulb planting took place on 25th October 2009. It was a huge success, thirty people came along to help plant thousands of crocus in St. Michael's Church grounds and then had well earned refreshments at the Boars Head. It was a lovely occasion and the results of our hard work will be a splendid display for all our community to enjoy in the spring. Photos: Bill Wlamsley.
Spring 2009
St. Michaels and All Angels Church was ready for some more treatment after the spring bulbs had gone and right on time comes our annual planting of impatians (bizzy lizzie). The plants were paid for by Middlewich Pride and Cheshire Grassroots grant scheme and a band of willing workers came to get the job done.
Having so many hands to do the job meant it was soon done and more importantly everyone enjoyed themselves.
As for the result, well not everyone can get to have a look for themselves so here's a few photo's to give you an idea...
Autumn 2008
A willing team of 22 people came along to help and Wil Morton brought his little digger along and removed the turf from a grassed area on Kinderton Street, this made the planting of hundreds of daffodils so much easier, of course we replaced the turf afterwards! Crocus bulbs were planted in St. Michaels and All Angels Church yard by a small team allocated that task. The weather was lovely and sunny and a light refreshment at the nearby Boars Head afterwards rounded of the day nicely. Bill Walmsley was on hand with his camera and he took the photographs the planting in action. As with many of the flower & bulb plantings we have carried out this event was funded by Middlewich Community Pride Group. We thank them for their support.
Above you can see work in progress and below the beautiful display of bulbs that flowered in Kinderton Street the following spring.

Autumn 2007
We planted daffodils in Chadwick Road opposite the Turnpike pub and crocus in St. Michael & All Angels Church yard. The photograph below is of the daffodils in Chadwick Road taken 18 months later which shows that they have taken well though they had yet to come into full bloom at the time the photograph was taken.

We planted daffodils in Warmingham Lane near the junction with Long Lane, at the rear of the library and on St Michaels Way. The two photographs were taken at the rear of the library and Warmingham Lane
